Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Sophie Elizabeth Mikelson was born January 9, 1924 to Ole S. and Gurine (Erickson) Olson in Randall, Iowa. Sophie was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames, where for many years she helped with the Scandinavian Coffee. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, shopping, watching ISU basketball and especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren.

Sophie passed away at 91 years of age on June 25, 2015 at Bethany Manor in Story City.

Sophie is survived by two children, Steve (Jeannine) Sansgaard and Cindy Kingsbury; four grandchildren, Krista Benson (engaged to Jason Fitzgerald), Scott Benson (engaged to Cali Arnold), Ben (Shawna) Sansgaard and Josh (Sara) Sansgaard; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler Sansgaard and Maycin Sansgaard.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald F. Sansgaard in 1956; her second husband, Paul Eugene Mikelson in 1986; three sisters, Elena Frette, Marie Hovick and Valgred Swenson; one brother, Ole G. Olson; her son, David F. Sansgaard; and her son-in-law, Gary Kingsbury.
