Evelyn Hannah Blair was born October 3, 1916 to Joseph E. and Julia Marie (Handahl) Helland in Roland, Iowa. Evelyn married Charles Blair on July 22, 1935 in Princeton, Missouri. They moved to Ames and Evelyn worked for Iowa State University as an accountant/bookkeeper for the various farms, retiring in 1979. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames where she participated in the women's circle.
Evelyn passed away at 98 years of age on May 4, 2015 at Bethany Manor in Story City.
Evelyn is survived by her grandson, Steven Helvig and his daughters, Julie Pierce, Holly Helvig and Sarah Helvig, and four great-great children, AJ, Mason, Isla and Nolan. Also surviving is her sister, Helen Olson, of Thompson, Iowa; and her brother, James Helland, of Roland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles, on March 10, 1998; and her daughter, Jeanne Marie Helvig, in 2007.
