Obituary for Marguerite (Skola) Wittick
Marguerite Skola Wittick was born with her twin sister, Marvel, June 22, 1920 in Slater, Iowa. She lived with her husband, Walter J. Wittick, for many years near Cambridge. She was a homemaker, community volunteer, 4-H leader, and life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, New Hope Chapter. She was predeceased by her husband; an infant daughter, Mary Jo; her parents, Henry Julius and Bessie (Severson) Skola; and all of her siblings, Wilfred, Beatrice, Arnold (Peg), Ramona, Arthur and Marvel.
Her four grandparents, Tollev and Christie Skola and Seivert and Arabelle (Sheldahl) Severson, were some of the original Norwegian homesteaders on the Iowa prairie along what is now Highway 210 in Story County.
Marguerite died at 94 years of age on April 7, 2015 at Trinity Center at Luther Park in Des Moines.
Marguerite is survived by four children, Jim (Afton) Wittick, of Des Moines, Diane Swanson, of Ankeny, Jeane (Vern) Pearson, of St. Paul, MN and Jacque Wittick, of Des Moines; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
Memorials may be made to Cambridge United Methodist Church, Wesley Community Services of Des Moines or Mercy Hospice in Des Moines.
