Katherine Ann "KP" Perkovich, 61, passed away on March 1, 2015 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. She had recently been diagnosed with cancer and is now in the presence of our Lord.

Kathy was born January 14, 1954 in Ames, Iowa. She attended United Community Schools and graduated from Ames High. For the past 36 years, she had been employed at Deano's and was the manager. Her patrons and friends were an important part of her life.

As a child, Kathy enjoyed her pony, fishing and watching the birds and chipmunks. In past years she was an avid motorcyclist. More recently, she loved her vacations with her friends and sister on Disney cruise ships. Kathy was a devoted mother to Sean.

Kathy is survived by her son, Sean Perkovich; her brother, Ernie (Jennifer) Corbin; her sister, Norma (Jim) Schmalzried; her nieces, Jennifer Zagger, Hannah Corbin and Emma Corbin; her nephew, Patrick Schmalzried; and her great-nephews, Preston and Taylor Schmalzried, Jacob Howell and Cory Corbin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Betty Corbin; and her life partner and Sean's father, Dan Ryan.

Kathy chose cremation. A private family graveside service will be at a later date. Friends can meet her family from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7 at Deano's, 119 Main Street, Ames.
