Juanita Switzer
October 7, 1924 - January 22, 2015

Juanita Wanda Day Switzer, 90, was welcomed by our Lord & Savior, into His Heavenly Kingdom on January 22, 2015.

Juanita was a Shipley Township basketball star and cheerleader. She married Carl Eugene Switzer, also from Shipley, on October 10, 1943, and within 5 years, had a family of four, including Carla Alice & Nancy Leigh Switzer. Juanita settled into a farm wife’s routine on their acreage southwest of Nevada, and at age 40 decided upon a career change. She attended DMACC and received her nursing degree, and for the next 20 years worked at MGMC in the ICCU, CCU, and Renal Units.

Juanita loved her family and her faith in God, and subsequently “planting the seed of salvation” were dominant themes throughout her life.

She had a beautiful high soprano voice and sang in the church choir and ladies trio. She was an active member of the Nevada Baptist Church. Juanita will be remembered fondly and lovingly by many, and will be missed sorely by her family, friends and neighbors.

A viewing will take place on Monday, January 26th, from 10 AM to 11 AM with a funeral service following at the Nevada Baptist Church, 210 West 4th Street in Nevada. Interment will follow at Story Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Ames.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Nevada Baptist Church.
