Dorothy was born on May 9, 1934 in Kensett, Iowa to Marvin and Almena (Pedersen) Grosland. She graduated from Kensett High School. Dorothy married Vale Peter on May 26, 1954 in Kensett, Iowa. She worked 22 years as a bookkeeper at Roland Transport. She has lived in Roland since 1962. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Roland American Legion Auxiliary and the Roland Cemetery Board. She enjoyed dancing, traveling, crossword puzzles and sewing. Her family was very important to her.

Dorothy M. Peter of Roland, died January 26, 2015 at Israel Family Hospice in Ames, Iowa at the age of 80 years.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Vale; a son, Craig (Dawn) Peter of Omaha, NE; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Peter of Nevada, IA; six grandchildren: Chris Peter, Cody Peter, David (Kylie) Peter, Vanna (Terrance) Beaston, Laura Moreira and Dylan Peter; seven great grandchildren: Tava and Tenley Beaston, Kyler Peter, MiKayla, Aidan, Michah and Brianna Moreira and a sister Marge Foss of Hampton, IA.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son Kyle Peter; daughter Valerie Peter; sister Helen Imerman and brother John Grosland.

Memorials may be made out to Salem Lutheran Church.
