Timothy Wayne John was born October 2, 1954 to Charles Dennis and Patricia (Hagedorn) John in Walla Walla, WA. Tim served in the United States Army from 1971 to 1974. Tim met and married Susan Harris in 1977. He worked at ACE Community Credit Union for 30 plus years. He was a member of American Legion Post #37, Ames Elks Lodge #1626 and the Ames Jaycees and served on the Ames School Board. Tim was an avid ISU Cyclone fan and enjoyed golfing, boating and spending time with his grandchildren. Tim and Sue were foster parents and attended First United Methodist Church.

Tim passed away at 60 years of age on January 24, 2015 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Tim is survived by his wife, Sue John, of Ames; his son, Kon (Melissa) John, of Louisville, KY; his daughter, Kayla (Ryan) VanCannon, of Omaha, NE; his grandchildren, Connor John, Keanan John, Chloe John, Aidan VanCannon, Dylan VanCannon, Owen VanCannon, and Julia VanCannon; his stepfather, Kenneth Courts; his sisters, Jerri (Terry) John Vinson, Lilly Courts and Tammy Courts; and many nieces and nephews.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Dennis John, Kenneth “Buck” Courts and Toby Courts; and his sister, Teresa John.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be addressed to Israel Family Hospice House, 400 South Dakota Avenue, Ames, Iowa, 50010
