Oelwein – Funeral services for Sylvia M. Larimer, formerly of Des Moines, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City, with the Rev. Tom Hunt and the Rev. Stephen Anenson officiating. Burial will be in the Story City Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church. Soderstrom Funeral Homes, Story City, are in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Larimer, 82, died of congestive heart failure Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at Oelwein Health Care Center. She was born June 14, 1915, in Story City, the daughter of Chris L and Margaret (Beroen) Johnson. She married Robert G. Larimer on April 19, 1936. Mrs. Larimer lived in Newton prior to moving to Des Moines in 1967. She worked as a buyer for Younkers in Des Moines until retiring in 1982. She moved to the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home in 1989 and then to Oelwein Health Care Center.
Survivors include two sons, Robert C. of Des Moines, and Richard of Oelwein; one brother, Howard Johnson of Story City; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert G.; one son, Christopher; one brother, Chelsea Johnson; and one sister, Marjorie Norlin.
