Last Rites For Mrs. Nettie Nokes Saturday Afternoon

Funeral services for Mrs. Nettie Nokes, long time resident of Nevada, who passed away from a cerebral hemorrhage Wednesday afternoon, were held on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 at the Ryan Funeral Home with the Rev. W. R. Tarr officiating.

The music was furnished by Mrs. Kenneth Rapp accompanied by Mrs. Norman C. Dobson at the organ. Mrs. Rapp sang "In the Garden" and "Nearer My God To Thee."

A number of beautiful floral offerings surrounded the bier.

The pall bearers were Stanley Ball, Lester Corbin, P. K. Mathison, Orren Padellford, W. F. Stratton, and Dave Sowers.

Committal was the Nevada cemetery.

The following obituary was read by the officiating minister.

Nettie Pointer was born May 5, 1868 to Daniel and Emma Pointer near Iowa Center, Iowa. She passed away Wednesday, Nov. 28, 1945 at her home in Nevada at the age of 77 years, 7 months and 23 days.

She was married to Elmer Nokes on February 15, 1885 at Nevada, they continued their home here. To this union were born 6 children, three of whom died in infancy. The three remaining are Frank of Mankato, Minn., Ray of San Diego, Cal., and Eva, Mrs. E. H. Tetwilber of Harrison, Idaho. Besides the three children surviving are a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Nokes passed away October 17, 1940 and since that time Mrs. Nokes has lived alone at her home at 1733 Sixth street in her younger years, she was active in church and lodge work. She served as a practical nurse for many years. Mrs. Nokes enjoyed her neighbors and friends, especially in her declining years. Her good life will be missed by her associates. Her passing brings sorrow to many friends.

Relatives from out of town in attendance at the last rites were Mr. Frank Nokes and son Earl of Mankato, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Lawson and daughter Patty of Madrid; Mrs. Pearl Pointer and two sons Glen and Donald Pointer of Collins; Mrs. Mildred Triplet of Le Roy, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Pointer of Collins, Mr. and Mrs. Fred McHone and Raymond McHone of Gilbert.
