Joseph Hines Dies Friday
Joseph A. Hines, 80, 123 Washington, died Friday at 9:40 p. m. at his home from a heart attack.
He was born April 14, 1875, at Maxwell. He came to Ames in 1913 and had been employed by the Iowa Highway Commission for 17 years.
He was employed as custodian by General Filter company at the time of his death.
He was a member of the Knights of Pythias.
Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p. m. at Adams chapel with the Rev. C. E. Lookingbill of Nevada officiating. Burial will be in the municipal cemetery.
Mr. Hines was married to Ella Griffin Feb. 7, 1894, at Nevada. She preceded him in death in 1943.
He was married to Bertha Warren March 9, 1946. She survives along with three sons--Vick and William Hines of Ames; Joseph Hines, Jr., of Denver, Colo.; three daughters--Mrs. Melvin Magoon, Mrs. Bernice Graves, Ames and Mrs. Harold Lee, Denver; a brother, Dave Hines, Tama; two step sons, Donald and Clarence Warren, Ames, a step-daughter, Mrs Purl Ernst, Ames.
