Mrs. Gertrude Ayers Buried at Iowa Center Saturday Afternoon

Funeral rites for Mrs. Iven Ayers, 68, who died at her home southeast of Nevada, September 2, were held at the Lilly Funeral home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the oldtime friends, Rev. C. E. Lookinbill in charge. Burial was in the family lot in the Iowa Center cemetery.

The fuenral home was filled with sorrowing relatives and friends, gathered to pay final tribute of respect to this good woman, who had spent her entire life in the community.

The music was by Mrs. Glenn Hubbard and her daughter Leora, who sang two songs, with Mrs. Garnet Hathaway at the organ. Casket bearers were Glen Dadisman, William Shickell, J. T. Hubbard, Homer White, Claude Shickell who sang two songs, with Mrs.

The following life sketch of the life of the deceased was read by the minister during the service.

"Gertrude Eleanor Ayers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry O. Ayers was born January 7, 1875, in Story county, where she grew to womanhood.

"She was united in marriage to Iven Ayers, January 18, 1892, and has made her home in Story county until her death at her farm home 7 1/2 miles southeast of Nevada. She passed away on September 2, 1943, at the age of 68 years, 8 months and 25 days.

"To this union were born four children, Mrs. Mae Kopf of Zearing; Clyde Ayers of Manchester, Iowa; Harry Ayers of Long Beach, Calif., and William Henry Ayers, who died in infancy.

"She leaves to mourn her departure her children, Mae Kopf, Clyde and Harry as well as five grandchildren and two great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Scott of Glendale, California; also a foster brother, Richard Parker of Auburn, Washington. In addition to these, she leaves to mourn a host of friends and other relatives.

"Mrs. Ayers was a good woman, kind and industrious devoted to her family and ever faithful to her duties as a wife and mother as well as a neighbor and friend."
