George Raymond Ayers
George Raymond Ayers was born on Feb. 28, 1910, son of Emmett Ayers and Nellie Ayers. Growing up in Story county, he farmed and answering the call of duty during World War II. He served his country well, during four years, which took him to both the Japanese and European Theatres of War.
His return from the service meant a return to farming which he continued until the time of death in the auto accident of Feb. 21, 1957. He was married to Mary Jane Sorensen Feb. 8, 1952, at Omaha, Neb. Baptized as a child in the Methodist church, he continued in that relationship through the years. He was a member of two veterans organizations, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving him are his wife Mary Jane Ayers, Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Ayers of Nevada, his parents, one brother, Willard Ayers of Grundy Center and two sisters, Mrs. Frank Reed (Lois) of Toledo, and Mrs. Lyle (Maxine) Baumgardner of Nevada.
