Obituary for Carroll Leslie Anderson

Carroll was born on March 24, 1923 near Radcliffe, Iowa to Walter and Mary (Friest) Anderson. He was a 1940 graduate of Radcliffe High School. Carroll was an Army Veteran of World War II serving in the 503rd Regiment Paratroop Combat Unit in Leyte and Negros in the Philippine Islands. Upon returning to the states, he brought his parachute for his hometown girl, Laurine Berve to make into her wedding dress and on July 27, 1946 they were married. To that union four children were born. They lived and farmed near Radcliffe until 1962 when they moved to Ames.

Living in Ames, Carroll enrolled at Iowa State University as a part-time adult student. He worked full-time, had various part-time jobs and was there for his family. In 1973, he completed one of his proudest accomplishments, earning his bachelor’s degree and becoming an ISU Alum.

After retiring in 1985 from 3M, he and Laurine moved to Harrison, Arkansas, before returning to Iowa in 2002 and settling in Story City.
