GEORGE WILLIAM WEST
George William West, 71, of 1550 F Ave., Nevada, died Monday, July 2, 1984, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Death was due to cancer.
He ws born Aug. 6, 1912, at Charles City, Ia., to Frank R. and Hazel P. Marsh West. He graduated from Charles City High School with the class of 1931.
He was married June, 1938, to Virginia Larson in the Congregational Church at Mason City, Ia. She survives.
They moved to Nevada in 1954 from Austin, Minn.
Mr. West was a sheet metal foreman in the maintenance department of the Atomic Energy Commission at Iowa State University in Ames.
He was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Memorial Lutheran Church with Pastor John Chadwick officiating. Burial will be in Nevada Cemetery.
Survivors in addition to Mrs. West include a daughter Penny (Mrs. Jack) Peacock of Cedar Rapids, and a sister, Ruth McCluskey of Charles City, and four grandchildren.
Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada is in charge of arrangements.
