Mattie M. Kleinschmidt
May 20, 1902 to Aug. 21, 1995Mattie M. Kleinschmidt, 93, of Shady Side, Md., died of congestive heart failure at Anne Arundel Medical Center, Annapolis, Md., on Monday, Aug.21, 1995.
She was born to Frank and Sarah (Houser) Perry at Colo on May 20, 1902. She attended schools in Colo, Winnebago, Minn., and Fairmont, Minn. On Dec. 31, 1919, she married Adolph E. Kleinschmidt in Fairmont, Minn.
She worked as a telephone operator in Colo and a receptionist for Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada. She had lived in Nevada since 1940 and had moved the Shady Side, Md. last year. She was a member of the Nevada First United Methodist Church, the VFW Auxiliary Post 2209 in Nevada, the American Legion Auxiliary Wm. Ball Post 48 in Nevada, the Ester Circle and the DAR-Solomon Dean Chapter in Nevada. She enjoyed crocheting and selling poppies for the American Legion Auxiliary which she had cone for 50 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Marvel L. Coleman of Shady Side, Md., four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1972, three sisters and five brothers.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 28, at 2 p.m. at Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home, Nevada. The Rev. James King will officiate. Burial will be in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, Aug. 27, from 1 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home with the family present from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nevada First United Methodist Church or the American Legion Auxiliary.
