Melvin L. Allie
Aug. 17, 1935 to July 20, 1999

Melvin L. Allie, 63, of Urbandale, died of cancer at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines on July 20, 1999.

He was born Aug. 17, 1935, in Nevada. He had worked as a machinist at R.R. Donnelly and Co., retiring in 1997. He had also served in the United State Army. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Des Moines.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn McNatton Allie; his mother, Agatha Culp and step-father, Lyle Culp, of Huxley; three daughters, LaVonne Mitchell of Des Moines, Rachel Ferin of Johnston and Rebecca Allie of Waukee; four grandchildren; two brothers, Merlin and Marvin of Huxley; and a niece, Christine Allie of Ankeny.

He was preceded in death by his father Orlan Paul Allie.

Funeral services were held the morning of Friday, July 23, at Grace Lutheran Church. Burial followed that afternoon in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Westover Funeral Home, Des Moines, handled arrengements.
