Her demise was the result of typhoid fever and was not unexpected. She went to Brookings early in September to teach a school near her sister's home and to be with her sister, and it was there that she was taken ill a few weeks ago. Her illness had been severe, and friends at home were warned of the end before it came.

Miss Bessie was born at Colfax, Illinois, August 14, 1891, and died at state at Brookings, South Dakota, December 9, 1910 aged 19 years, 3 months and 25 days. She came with her parents to Nevada in the spring of 1899, and her home has since been at the farm home just west of town. She attended the Nevada schools and graduated here from the high school in the spring of 1909. She continued in the high school for another year, taking post-graduate year, and closed her school work here only last May. She had just started out to do for herself and was still only in her twentieth year when the she became a victim of the prevailing epidemic. She was a most attractive girl, just emerging from girlhood to womanhood, and her death is a hard blow for family and friends. Her body was brought home Monday morning, and her funeral is conducted this afternoon from the Presbyterian church by Rev. Dr. Hunter.
