Obituary for Jean Ann Janes
Jean Janes, 71, of Collins, Iowa, originally from Moravia, Iowa, passes away Saturday, May 24, 2014 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Farrar United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM Friday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell. Private Inurnment at the Farrar Cemetery will be at a later date.
Jean was born on February 14, 1943 in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Buell and Vina (Vickroy) Taylor. She graduated from High School in 1961 and was united in marriage to Ronald Janes on June 12, 1965 in Moravia, Iowa. Jean worked for LOOK Magazine in Des Moines where she also played basketball for their team. Jean was very active in the Farrar United Methodist Church and with the United Methodist Women where she served many roles, most recently, Interim Communications Coordinator.
Jean is survived by her husband, Ronald Janes of Collins, Iowa; one son: Brett Janes of Texas; two daughters: Kimberly (Dave) Baker of Grimes, Iowa, Natalie (Jerry) Logsdon of Des Moines, Iowa; three grandchildren: Khloe and Braxton Baker, and Daphne Logsdon.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Buell and Vina Taylor; and a brother, Jay Taylor.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Farrar United Methodist Church.
