Services for area deaths

MRS. VERA SANDROCK

Services will be held from the Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada Friday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Jeen Park officiating for Mrs. Carl (Vera) Sandrock, 712 Lincolnway, Nevada who died early Wednesday morning at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames. She had been a patient there for the past 10 days, and had been ill for the past year and a half. She was 59.

Born August 20, 1914 in Fernald to Bert and Anna Hitchings, she had been a resident of Story County her entire life time. She was married to Carl J. Sandrock on March 4, 1935 and was a member of the First Christian Church in Nevada.

She is survived by her husband; one son, Merle of Nevada; the daughters, Mrs. James (Janice) Burton of Indianola and Lana Sandrock of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; five brothers, Ralph Hitchings of McCallsburg, Russell of Marshalltown, Marion of Zearing, and Earl and Lyle Hitchings both of Nevada; two granddaughters; and by two sisters, Mrs. Florence Vail of Nevada and Mrs. Bess Helgeson of White River, South Dakota.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Douglas who died in 1970.

Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
