Maude L. Cook
Jan. 18, 1905 to Oct. 9, 1992Maude Lynette Cook, 87, of Iowa Falls died of congestive heart failure at her daughter's home in Franklin County.
She was born to William Elmer and Lynette (Payne) McMurray at Newton. A graduate of Newton High School, she married Arthur Joseph Cook at her parents home at Newton on Jan. 18, 1927. She previously lived in the Iowa communities of Clear Lake, Zearing, McCallsburg, Nevada and State Center. She was last employed as the owner and administrator of the Golden Inn nursing home in Zearing. She retired in 1976. She also worked for the Newton School District and for the Tri County State Bank, Newton. She was a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church, where she was baptized on Dec. 23, 1928; and the Zearing Christian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Meyer of Iowa Falls; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur, in 1977; an infant son, David, in 1934; two daughters, Joan Borchert and Mona Sweet; two brothers, Dr. Edward McMurray and Dr. Herbert McMurray; and one grandson, Nicholas Meyer.
Graveside services were held Oct. 11, at the Nevada Cemetery. Pastor Eddie Akins officiated. Memorials may be sent to family at R.R. 3, Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126. Linn's Funeral Home, Iowa Falls, handled arrangements.
