Arthur Kirchhoff
Nov. 7, 1914-Nov. 17, 1995Arthur Kirchhoff, 81, of Ames died Friday at the Story County Hospital Long Term Care Facility of complications arising from a stroke. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Memorial Lutheran Church in Ames with the Rev. Richard Osslund and Mark Heilman officiating. Burial will be in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Arthur Kirchhoff was born in Humboldt to Otto and Clara (Lehman) Kirchhoff. On Feb. 17, 1938, he married Charlotte Moen in Badger. She preceded him in death on Dec. 3, 1993. Mr. Kirchhoff had been an resident of Ames since 1965.
After attending the Beaver Township and Humboldt Public Schools, Mr. Kirchhoff farmed for 25 years near Humboldt. During that time he was active in farm co-operatives and served on a number of local and regional dairy and elevator boards of directors. On Jan. 1, 1961, Mr. Kirchhoff became the executive secretary for the Iowa Dairy Products Association. He served as president of the Iowa FFA in 1935 and was awarded the Iowa Farmer and American Farmer Degree. In 1976, Mr. Kirchhoff received the Ralph Keeling Dairy Leadership Award. He was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church in Ames.
Mr. Kirchhoff is survived by one son, Alan Kirchhoff of Flower Mound, Texas; two daughters, Cheryl Shanks of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Jeannine Scott of San Jose, Calif.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one brother, Leonard Kirchhoff of Humboldt.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
