JAMES BUFORD

James Elmer Buford, 81, of Nevada, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 1982 at Story County Hospital.

He was born July 29, 1900 in Franklyn, Ohio, the son of Thomas and Hattie Scott Buford, and attended the Franklyn, Ohio schools. On Nov. 7, 1953 he married Opal Watkins st Hamilton, Ohio.

Mr. Buford live and worked in Hamilton, Ohio as a landscaper, retiring in 1960. In 1969 the couple moved to Nevada where her children reside. He was member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church an a veteran of WWI and WWII.

He is survived by his wife, Opal; two stepsons, Wayne Watkins of Colo and Frank Watkins of Louisville, Kenn.; two stepdaughters, Stella Huff of Nevada and Joyce Hazelwood of Hamilton, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22 at the Ryan Funeral Home, Nevada, with Elder Lester Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.
