Rites for former Nevadan, Christian Thomsen, May 1
Funeral services for Christian Thomsen, former Nevadan, were held at Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada on May 1, at 1 p.m. Rolfe S. Johnstad, pastor of St. Petri Lutheran Church, Story City, officiated, and sang. The organist was Mark Ambrose. Burial took place at the cemetery in Nevada.
Christian Thomsen, son of Herman and Marie Thomsen, was born August 26, 1888 in Marne, Iowa and passed away at Doctor's Hospital, Phoenix, Arizona, on April 28. he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith, at the Lutheran Church in Cass County. He attended the Elkhorn College.
On February 14, 1912 he was united in marriage to Anna Larson. To this union were born two daughters. Vera (Mrs. Lawrence Jacobson), RR, Ames and Lucille (Mrs. Harley Hylbok) of Richland, Washington and one son, Clifford Thomsen of nevada. In 1923 he moved to Story County and continued farming until retirement in 1955. His wife Anna passed away on August 23, 1955.
On July 20, 1961 he married Bertha Maddy. In 1972 they moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where he resided until his death. Suviving are three children, his wife Bertha, one sister Euken of Atlantic, three brothers: Nels of Cumberland, Herman of Wiota, and Adolph of Omaha, Nebraska; also ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
