Guy D. French, son of Clark and Elva French, was born in Pipestone, Minn. on December 25, 1882. His death occurred in the Story County hospital, Dec. 3, 1955, after a brief illness. He came to Iowa as a child and had lived in Story county nearly all his life.
The early part of Guy French's life was spent in the operation of grain elevators, but for the past twenty-five years he had been a salesman for the Puritan Laboratories. He was very active in the local Odd Fellows Lodge having been secretary of this organization for many years. He had been a member of the Lutheran church for many years.
Surviving him are the wife, Edith, two daughters, Gayle Cordle of Charles City, Iowa and Bertha Twedt of Fairmont, Minn. and one son Lester of Newkirk, Okla., four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He also leaves one brother, Hugh French of Plentywood, Mont., three sister; Mabel Stookey and Verna Ward of Nevada and Lucy Harris of Maxwell.
His parents and eight brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
Among those in attendance from a distance were Hugh French, Plentwood, Mont., Mr. and Mrs. Lester French of Newkirk, Okla., Mr. and Mrs. Holver Twedt and daughter Colleen of Fairmont, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Cordle and Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne Christianson of Charles City; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Persons of Dakota City, Mrs. Grant Nesheim of Godfield, Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Ward of Sexton, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Middleton and Wm. Powers of Des Moines in addition to many others from towns nearby.
