Alan (Big Al) Lee Graham, 72, passed away peacefully at his home in Collins, Iowa on Friday, May 2, 2014.
Memorial service will be 1:00 PM Thursday, May 8th, at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell, Iowa. Inurnment will take place in the Graham Cemetery near Mingo, Iowa.
Alan was born June 11, 1941 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Donald and Helma (Stegemann) Graham. He graduated from Mingo High School in 1959. Alan was united in marriage to Leona Ruth Wise in 1971 in Des Moines, Iowa.
He owned and operated “Al’s Tire Service” and was also very active in his community and served on several local committees and boards. He was a volunteer fireman and first responder for several years in Collins and had served on the Collins City Council. He wore many hats throughout his life including that of a farmer, Greyhound Bus Driver, trucker, to selling cattle supplies. His favorite days were spent fishing and relaxing at their cabin at Lake Rathbun. He always enjoyed having a good dog by his side (Maggie 1,2, & 3), a tall glass in his hand and a big steak on the grill. He had many friends and relatives that loved him dearly. He definitely was one of the “good Ole Boys” in Collins, Iowa.
Alan was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Alan is survived by his wife, Leona, and their seven children: Richard, Christine, Tracy, Jim, Diane, Mike, and Rob; one sister: Anna Davis; and an uncle: Robert Stegemann.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Helma Graham.
The Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell is handling arrangements.
