Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Argyll Amenson, 86, died on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa. Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 26 at Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland. Inurnment will follow the service at the Roland Cemetery.

Argyll was born on November 7, 1927 to Irvin H. and Agnes (Cole) Amenson in rural Story County, Iowa. He was a lifelong resident of Roland, Iowa. Argyll was baptized and confirmed at Bergen Lutheran Church. Argyll married Louise Foley on May 13, 1960. He worked at Ames In-Cross and Hach Chemical. Argyll liked a good cup of coffee and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, playing cards and cribbage. He liked to gather and crack walnuts. Argyll was also a member of the Lions Club. Argyll loved to have his family and friends stop by to visit.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 55 years, Louise; two sons, Michael (Silver) Amenson of Story City, IA and Wayne (Irma) Amenson of Nevada, IA; and one daughter, Kathleen Amenson of Des Moines, IA; sixteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren; one brother, Harry (Katie) Amenson of Roland, and one sister, Bess (Jack) McWilliams of Des Moines, IA; and other family and friends.

Argyll is preceded in death by his parents.
