Nevada woman died Wed. at hospital

MRS. FLORENCE VAIL

Funeral services will be held from the Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada Saturday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Robert Baker officiating for Mrs. Florence Vail, 1422 F Ave., Nevada who died Wednesday afternoon at the Story County Hospital where she had been admitted a short time earlier after suffering a heart attack. She was 71.

Born in Story County on January 17, 1903, she was the daughter of Bert and Anna Hitchings. She had been a resident of Story County her entire life time.

She is survived by four sons, Donald Smith of Needles, Calif., Dale and Richard Smith, both of Nevada and Max Smith of State Center; one daughter, Mrs. Thelma Haley of State Center; 25 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five brothers, Ralph Hitchings of McCallsburg, Russel of Marshalltown, Marion of Zearing, Earl and Lyle Hitchings, both of Nevada; and one sister, Mrs. Bess Helgeson of White River, South Dakota.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and her first and second husbands.

Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.
