Mrs. Christina Rasmussen was born in Fynn, Denmark, November 2, 1865. At the age of 18 years, she came to America, and since coming to America she lived in Story until her death Thursday, December 23, at the Gilmore nursing home on sixth street. At the time of her death she was 69 years, one month and twenty-two days of age.
On November 7, 1884 she was united in marriage to Lars Rasmussen. The ceremony was performed by Pastor Wynn of Ames. On November 7, 1934 they celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary.
After her marriage to Mrs. Rasmussen they lived in Ames for two years and then moved to a farm in Milford township where they lived for many years. In 1934 they retired from the farm and moved to Nevada.
Mrs. Rasmussen was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. For many years she was a devout and faithful member of Memorial Lutheran church, Nevada. She was active in all the interests of the church as long as her health would permit.
She is survived by seven daughters, Lena, Mrs. Christ Peterson of Nevada; Mary, Mrs. Christ Haugsted, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Anna, Mrs. L. P. Sorensen, Nevada; Ida, Mrs. Clarence Nelson, Vernon Center, Minn.; Evelyn, Mrs. W. A. Larson, Nevada; Ruth, Mrs. Ruth Nelson, Boone; Ruby, Mrs. Phillip Nelson, Boone; Ruby, Mrs. Phillip Nelson, Maxwell; by 20 grandchildren and by 40 great grandchildren.
Her husband, Lars Rasmussen, and a son, Otis prececed her in death.
