CHARLES C. MONTGOMERY

Charles C. (Chick) Montgomery, 71, died Wednesday of last week [April 5, 1944] at the Helen Jay Nursing Home in Des Moines.

Charles C. Montgomery was born Jan. 15, 1873, near El Paso, Ill., a son of Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Montgomery. he came to Story county with the family at the age a 19 years. The settled on a farm in Milford township and there he remained until he was married Jan. 19, 1898, to Genevieve Minkler, daughter of a neighboring farm family.

Two children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery, one a son who died infancy, and a daughter, Edna, who married Paul Wendell, and in whose care he spent the later years of his life.

He is survived by the daughter, Mrs. Wendell, and a grandson, Gary Wendell, of Des Moines; and by two brothers, Arch Montgomery of Nevada, and B. F. Montgomery, a farmer near Mason City.
