Former Story County Woman Dies of Accident Injuries

Mrs. Myron Johnson, 69, former resident of north of Nevada in Milford township, died at a hospital in Fairmont, Minn., Thursday[, November 20, 1941].

One son, Myrl D. Johnson, farmer of north of Nevada, accompanied by his wife, was in Minnesota Saturday to attend the funeral rites which were held at the Methodist church in Fairmont. The services were in chae of Rev. B. G. Witt, pastor of the Salem Evangelical church, assisted by Rev. W. A. Korfhage pastor of the Methodist church there. Burial was in the nearby Lakeside cemetery.

Mrs. Myron R. Johnson of Fox Lake township was injured when she fell from a car at the Welcome corner on U. S. Highway 16 Sunday, November 16, and died at a hospital in Fairmont at 2:30 a. m. Thursday.

Death was due to an infection in her right arm which was fractured at the elbow in the fall from the car. The accident occurred when Mr. Johnson turned the car sharply at the intersection and the door came open.

Mrs. Johnson grabbed inside the door of the car to break the fall and in so doing the flesh of the arm was lacerated. Infection resulted, developing into gangrene.

Mrs. Johnson was widely known in the neighborhood and county in which she lived as a Farm Bureau worker and home and community chairman from her township. She attended the annual meeting of that organization just before she was injured.

After her marriage to Mr. Johnson in 1898 she moved to Nevada where she lived until 1920 on a farm. The family then moved to Elmore, living there until 1926, then to Blue Earth until 1932 when they went to Martin county and settled on a farm in Fox Lake township six miles north of Welcome.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband and six children. The children are: Myrl D., Roland, Ia; Yle, Easton, Minn.; Kieth, Elmore; Howard at home; William, Blue Earth, and Mrs. James McNerney (Lucille), Fairmont. Three children died in infancy.

She also leaves one brother and two sister. The brother, Severt Dawson, lives at Fairbury, Illinois, and the sisters are Mrs. Gilbert Womeldorf of Zearing, Iowa, and Miss Dula Dawson of Illinois. All were presnet at the funeral.
