Thomas E. Holm
AnkenyTom Holm, 81, died from a stroke Sunday, February 10, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 15 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Ankeny, of which he was a member. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Services of Iowa funeral home (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd.). Burial will be at Story City Cemetery.
Tom was born at home June 25, 1931, in Story City to Torb and Ethel (Olson). He graduated from Story City High School and Waldorf College and attended Drake University. He was a territory sales representative out of Des Moines for a building materials manufacturer. He married Bonnie Soren on October 3, 1954, and lived in Des Moines for 11 years before moving to Ankeny in 1965, where they raised their two sons.
Music was a big part of Tom's life. He played the trombone in high school, sang in the choir at Waldorf and sang in church choirs most of his life.
Tom is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bonnie; their two sons, John (Susan) of Beavercreek, Ohio, and Dan (Jennifer) of Ankeny, three grandchildren (David, Sarah, Jeydon); and two brothers, Richard of Des Moines and Jerry of Palm Desert, California.
