Chester M. Ryan
April 6, 1923 to March 3, 1992Chester M. (Chet) Ryan, 68, of Nevada died of a cerebral hemorrhage at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.
He was born to Charles Arthur and Caroline Belle (Sparks) Ryan at Murray on April 6, 1923, and lived in Nevada for 40 years. He was owner and operator of Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.
He was married on June 14, 1947, in Radcliffe and is survived by Gertrude of Ames; two daughters, Cynthia A. Ryan of Mission, Kan., and Cheryl K. Mueller of St. Charles; a son, Charles Steven Ryan of Redland, Calif.; two grandchildren; and a brother Charles Vernon Ryan of Jefferson.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #48, Nevada Masonic Lodge AF & AM 99, Veterans of Foreign Wars Nevada Post 2209 and the Missouri Funeral Directors Association. He served with the Marine Corps in World War II in the Pacific Theater.
Services were held March 6 at the Memorial Lutheran Church with burial in the Nevada Cemetery. Military graveside services were conducted by VFW Post 2209. A memorial fund has been established.
