David Melody Inman
July 4, 1917-Dec. 10, 1999

David Melody Inman, 82, of Lake Forest, Ill., died Friday of Alzheimer's disease in Arizona. Burial with military honors, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Nevada Cemetery in Nevada.

David Melody Inman was born July 4, 1917, in Lake Forest, Ill., the son of David M. and Amelia "Minnie" (Hansen) Inman. He went to Highland Park High School and Deerfield High School. He then attended Georgetown College and the University of Illinois. On April 25, 1941, he married Georgia F. Miner at St. Louis, Mo. He joined the U.S. Army and took part in the D-Day Invasion of Europe at Normandy Beach during WWII. He was armored infantry regiment of the Second Armored Division, which was the first American division to enter and occupy Berlin, Germany. He was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action Dec. 25, 1944. He also was awarded the Belgium Fourrequeree, Meritorious Service Wreath, the European Theater Ribbon with file battle stars and American Defense ribbon.

He returned to Illinois after the war and was a member of the American Legion, the VFW of Highland Park, Lions Club, and, after his retirement. an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest.

He is survived by two sons, David of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Mark of Reno, Nev.; one daughter, Diana Gray of LaGrange, Ill.; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife.
