Sam L. Banks died Wednesday
Sam L. Banks, 66, Route one, Nevada, died about 11 a.m. Wednesday at his home.
Born at Nevada, he had been a resident of Story County his entire lifetime. He farmed near Huxley for about seven years and near Fernald for the past 25 years.
Mr. Banks was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church, Nevada. He served on the school boards of the Huxley and Fernald schools for a number of years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; his mother, Mrs. Bertha Banks of Oak Park Manor, Nevada; a son, Donald Banks of Zearing; two daughters, Mrs. Merle Wilkening, Colo and Mrs. Leo Tjelmeland, Nevada; 10 grandsons, two granddaughters; two brothers, Earl Banks, also of Nevada, Kenneth Banks of Hammond, Ind. and a sister Mrs. Raymond Davenport of Ankeny.
His father preceded him in death in 1955.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday from Memorial Lutheran Church, Nevada, with the Rev. Harry Myklebust officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the Ryan Funeral Home, Nevada, until Saturday morning.
A memorial fund has been established. Gifts may be left with the Ryan Funeral Home.
