SUDDEN DEATH OF MARTIN HARDESTY
WELL KNOWN LABORING MAN PASSED SUDDENLY--CASE BEING PROBED.
Martin T. Hardesty, 61, well known laboring man of the city died at his home in the northwest part of Nevada Saturday night just before midnight. Death was very sudden and the cause is not fully determined, although is is being investigated by physicians and the officers. It is not improbable that a post mortem examination will be held.
Mr. Hardesty had been crippled up for some months as a result of injuries received when a ditch in which he was working, caved in upon him.
Friday morning he had driven over to Boone to have his son Clarence, make some repairs on his Ford. He came back as far as Ames Saturday morning, where he stopped with relatives until Saturday evening, when he drove on home. After supper he, with his housekeeper, Mrs. Sallie Roberson, took an automobile ride and she noticed at the time that he had been drinking. Arriving back home, he remained seated out in the car for some time. Later she induced him to enter the house, when he complained of being sick. She cared for him for a time but as he grew worse, she went for help and summoned a physician but he died before the physician arrived.
It was thought for a time this morning that a postmortem would be held, but the idea was given up, until about 11 o'clock when the sheriff said that he had about decided that an examination would be made, as the results of some of his checking up on the case this morning.
The funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock at the Evangelical church. The wife died a few years ago and there are five sons and one daughter, all of whom are here today with the exception of one son.
