Opal L. Harlow
Dec. 9, 1916 to July 18, 2003Opal L. Harlow, 86, of Nevada, died Friday, July 18, at the Story County Medical Center in Nevada.
She was born Dec. 9, 1916, near Nevada to Alfert H. and Minnie L. (Wallen) Boten. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1934. She was married Abner L. Harlow in 1939 in Missouri. She had worked at the Story County Hospital for 20 years as the executive housekeeper and head purchasing agent. She retired in 1972. She was a member of the Nevada Christian Church and had been active in Christian Women's Fellowship.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth (and Richard) Huff of Nevada; three granddaughters; two great-grandsons; two brothers, Max Boten of Littleton, Colo., and Wyne Boten of Nevada; and a sister, Ruth Millslagle of Creston.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, a son, Jame L. Harlow; two brothers, Henry Boten and Myron Boten; and two sisters, Margaret Boten, in infancy, and Frances Carlton.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 22, at Nevada Christian Church with Pastor Brice Hughes officiating. Burial was in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Opal Harlow Memorial Fund. Bacon Funeral Home, Nevada, handled arrangements.
