Jan. 4, 1899 to July 6, 1993

Irene Markland Dobson, 94, of Nevada died of heart failure at Story County Long Term Care, Nevada.

She was born n Nevada to Clarence E. and Harriett (Dawson) Markland and lived in Nevada her entire life. She married Norman C. Dobson on Nov. 15, 1935, at Little Brown Church, Nashua. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Nevada, the Sorosis Club and a 50-year member of the Nevada Chapter #296 Order of the Eastern Star. She was an organist for First United Methodist Church for more than 30 years and piano teacher.

Survivors include her nephew, Gordon E. Bivns of Nevada; three great-nephews, Dale M. Bivens of Nevada, Bruce A. Bivens of Cedar Falls and Paul W. Bivens of San Antonio, Texas, and one great-niece, Carol Bivens Powell of Cape Girardeau, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1971, her parents and one sister, Hazel M. Bivens.

Private family services were held Saturday at Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, with her great-nephew, Bruce A. Bivens, officiating. Public graveside services followed at the Nevada Cemetery.
