DEATH

Marion Phillips

Marion Phillips was born in Nevada on December 21, 1916 and died on June 7 in California at the age of 56. He attended elementary and high schools there before beginning to farm near Nevada.

On November 24, 1938 he was united in marriage to Julia Anderson and they farmed near Nevada until 1955 when they moved to Wisconsin. After farming there for 10 years, they went to California in 1965. An ardent lover of nature and plants, he found great satisfaction in his work as a gardener-mechanic for the Ocean View School District in Huntington Beach.

He is survived by his wife Julia and a son, Robert, of Huntington Beach and two daughters living in Fall Creek, Wisc.; Celeste Eileen Luedtke and Sally Ann Weggen. Other survivors include four grandsons, a brother, Lawrence in England, and his mother, Rena Phillips of Nevada.

he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Richard, in 1949, his father and brother, Morris.

An active member of Grace Lutheran Church of Huntington each, he served his church as a member of the property board and as an usher. He also served as a 4-H leader in Huntington Beach.
