Phillip Todd Chriswell, 44, of Slater died Thursday, December 19, 2013.

Todd was born November 1, 1969 at Englewood, Colorado, the son of Colin David and LaDonna Kay (Koester) Chriswell. He attended the Ballard Schools and graduated from Ames High School in 1988. He attended Des Moines Area Community College for two years and was six months away from graduating from Ashford University with a degree in criminal justice. He had lived in Slater, Ames, Mason City and returned to Slater in 2011.

Todd was an author and had written many short stories, manuscripts and novels. He was an avid volunteer operator for the Suicide Prevention Hotline where he helped many people through difficult times.

Todd is survived by his parents, Colin and LaDonna Chriswell of Slater, Iowa; his brother and sister-in-law: Bradley and Amy Chriswell of Ames, Iowa; and two nieces: Addison and Kathryn.

Todd was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Memorial services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2014, at Bacon Funeral Home, 1418 Fawcett Parkway in Nevada.
