Wert Hill Is Dead at 80
Wert Hill, 80, 708 Lincoln Way died yesterday at about 6:45 p.m. at Mary Greeley Hospital. He had been taken to the hospital that morning.
Born at Dean Station, he had lived in this community since 1918.
Surviving are his wife, Clara; three daughters, Mrs. Effie Yarbrough of Danville, Mrs. Bertha Markley and Mrs. Roxie Freel both of Ames and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Arlene Redding, Ames; 14 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Dixon, Ames, and Mrs. Cora Horrell, Des Moines; two half-brothers, Charles M. Lovejoy and Lewis Lovejoy, both of Dover, Ark. Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Beech, in 1943 and his twin brother, Bert, last January.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. from the Stevens Funeral Home. The Rev. A. E. Wilken, minister of the Evangelical United Brethren Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Story Memorial Gardens. The body will lie in state Thursday afternoon and evening.
