Karges rites in Nevada today
Robert E. Karges, 44, Nevada, died Sunday* in his home after shooting himself in the chest with a 30-30 rifle. He had been under a doctors care for some time.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. today from the Ryan Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. E. P. Windman officiating. Burial was in Nevada Cemetery.
Born Nov. 12, 1871, at Charles City, he was the only son of Frderick and Alta Karges. The family resided in Nevada since 1917.
Mr. Karges was graduated from the State University of Iowa with a BA degree in business, and was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. He took over the Karges filling station and tire service in 1936 after the death of his father.
He served with the U. S. Army in the European Theatre during World War II as a tank sergeant, entering the military service in 1942 and discharged in 1945.
He was a member of the Nevada VFW and American Legion, and was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his wife, Meribel, and mother, Mrs. Alta Karges, both of Nevada. Preceding him in death was his father.
