Russell C. Birney* died Tuesday

NOTE: Name is incorrect in headline.

Russell E. Birney, 80, 812 Seventh St., died at Mary Greeley Hospital Tuesday.

Burner services will be Friday at 2 p.m. form Stevens Memorial Chapel with the Rev. William F. Overhulser officiating. Burial will be in Nevada Municipal cemetery.

Born March 5, 1889 at Webster City, Birney married Claudia Severin in 1955 in Denison. He farmed near Ames for many years and worked in Ames nursing homes 15 years before retiring.

He was a member of the Izaak Walton League.

Survivors include his wife; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Lund of Mekle, Ind., a daughter, Mrs. Earl DeMey of Sanburn; and five grandchildren.

Friends may call Thursday afternoon and evening at Steven Memorial Chapel.
