CLAYTON F. HANSEN

A retired publisher of the Nevada Evening Journal died Thursday evening at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames after two years of failing health.

Clayton Hansen, 73, was associated with the Journal from 1926 to 1953 when he retired as Co-Publisher and Co-Owner. he had been a resident of Story County his entire lifetime.

He was born June 24, 1900 to Fred and Alta Hansen and 20 years later married Helene Fawcett on May 7, 1920 in Boone. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, a past president of the Nevada Rotary Club and also a past president of the Nevada Park Board.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Max of New Richmond, Wisconsin; seven grand-children; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Jess of Lake Crystal, Minnesota; and one sister, Mrs. Don (Doris) Mertesdorf of Vernon Center, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Lt. Gene Hansen who was killed in World War II.

Funeral services will be held from the Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Marvin Hulse officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.
