Howard Chester Brown was born October 17, 1918 to Chleo Chester and Winnifred Erma (Boyer) Brown in Ida County, Iowa. Howard served in the United States Army during WWII, from 1941 to 1945, and was stationed in the Pacific Theatre of Operations and achieved the rank of Technical Sergeant. Howard and Dorothy M. Reiff were married April 27, 1945 in Ida Grove. He attended AIB College in Des Moines for 2 years and worked as an accountant for Doane Agricultural Service and Nim's Sportsman of Ames. He was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Ames.

Howard passed away December 3, 2013 at Riverside Manor South in Ames at 95 years of age.

Howard is survived by two daughters, Judith Katharine (Duane) Erdmann, of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, and Katharine Phyllis Brown, of Ames; and one brother, Myrwyn G. (Jane) Brown, of Rochester, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; four brothers; and three sisters.

Memorials may be designated to Memorial Lutheran Church.
