Funeral Rites Held Here for Mrs. Mary Booher

Funeral rites for Mrs. Mary Booher, 86, pioneer Nevada township woman, who died at her home at Santa Ana, Calif., August 1, were held at the Morfoot Funeral home here Friday afternoon, with Dr. C. d. Loose in charge. The songs were by Harold Kruwell with Mrs. Hathaway at the piano.

The body of this daughter of pioneer Nevada township family was laid to rest in the Nevada cemetery, after having been accompanied back from California by her sister Mrs. Effie Moran, of 728 Eighth street, Nevada who spent some weeks with Mrs. Booner.

The life sketch of the cedeased as read by the minister, follows:

"Mary, the daughter of William V. and El Dana Finley, was born near Edgington, Rock Island county, Illinois, May 17, 1854; and passed away at her home in Santa Ana, Calif., August 1, 1940, at the age of 86 years, 9 months and 24 days. Mary grew to girlhood in Illinois, and came with her parents to Iowa in 1865, settling on a farm south of Nevada.

"On Nov. 27, 1890 she was united in marriage to Samuel D. Booher. To this union two children were born, both of whom preceded her in death. Mr. Booher also passed away about 15 years ago.

"In 1896 she was converted in the "Billy" Sunday meetings which ere being held in the old Opera house in Nevada. Following the meetings she, together with her husband, joined in the fellowship of the Presbyterian church, of which church she remained a faithful member until her death.

"She leaves to sorrow in her passing tow sisters, Mrs. Effie Moran and Mrs. Jerusha McConnell, both of Nevada, and one brother, O. J. Finley, of Salem, South Dakota, besides a large number of other relatives and friends.
