T. J. Henrehan,62, native son of Story county and for over forty years a resident of Nevada, died at his home 1335 Fifth street Sunday evening about 9:30, after an illness that had covered a period of over nine months.
Death ws due the complications resulting from a fractured hip suffered while at his work as a guard at the Iowa State penitentiary at Fort Madison, where he worked for four and a half years.
Shortly after the accident he returned home and since March 18 had been confined to his bed, either at a hospital or at his home under the care of physicians.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 9:30 at St. Patrick's church with Rev. Fr. Gorman in charge and burial will be in St. Patrick's cemetery.
Thomas J. Henrehan was born on a farm near Collins, in Story county, January 29, 1867, only son of Michael and Ellen Henrehan and Story county had been his home during his entire life.
He came to Nevada with his family when a young man of nineteen years and here his parents died.
His first work here was that of driver and office man for the lat Dr. B. F. Winsett, for whom he worked 7 years. Later he was employed by the local electric light and power company for a similar position.
In the meantime, on August 8, 1906, he was united in marriage to Miss Belle Hass. Two children were born to them, on dying in infancy and the second Phillip, now 17 years of age, with the wife survives him.
For a period of over 8 years Mr. and Mrs. Henrehan were engaged in the motion picture business; successfully conducting theatres in Nevada. During this same period he served six years as jaileer under C. C. Gretien, then Story county sheriff.
Late he farmed for a short time and then moved back to Nevada and his next and final work was that of a guard at the prison where he sustained the in jury resulting in death.
In addition to his wife and son he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Laurette Flater of Nevada and Mrs. Mayme McLaughlin of Rockwell, a half sister on north Pacific coast, three nieces and three nephews.
While the death of Tom Henrehan comes not as a surprise, yet the taking of such a man in the prime of his life, can fut bring sadness in the family and his large circle of friends and neighbors. He was a man genial and kindly in his treatment of the public, of a marked charitable dispostion and beloved by his family.
