Obituary From Mitchell Funeral Home, Marshalltown, Marshall County, Iowa.

Gerald “Bob” Davis, 76 of Nevada, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Visitation will be on Friday October 11, 2013, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday October 12, 2013, also at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed towards the Israel Family Hospice House, Nevada FFA or to Quakerdale. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Bob and his family. Phone 641-844-1234.

Bob Davis was born on December 15, 1936, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Ralph and Ruth Ware Davis. On July 21, 1955; Bob was united in marriage to Vieve Galloway and they later divorced in 1987. Bob was enlisted in the United States Army from 1955 until 1957 where he was stationed at Fort Campbell Kentucky. After the Army; Bob attended Iowa State University for one year for Agriculture and then went on to farm. He continued to farm until 1981. Bob later drove a school bus for the Nevada Schools for 20+ years and thoroughly enjoyed all of his bus kids. Many who still remember "Bob the bus driver". On December 27, 1988; Bob married his second wife Janice Heiberger; they were only married six short months before she would pass away. Bob’s interests and activities were many. He loved riding his bike and attending “Bike Night”. He loved to travel and went on seven trips to Germany and Amsterdam; he would go to Mexico for two weeks out of every year; he enjoyed his annual fishing trip to Michigan and he took his whole family on a cruise. Bob even loved his many trips to Maid Rite, Applebee’s and his daily trips to Dairy Queen. Even after retirement Bob continued to farm.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Kindra (Barry) Jones of Nevada, Kraig Davis of Phoenix, Arizona, Kyla Davis of Des Moines and Keith (Denise) Davis of Nevada. Grandchildren: Amber and Ashley Jones, Lauren and Austin Davis, Zach and Kolin Davis and Brad Flanagan. Great grandchild: Kaine Jones. Siblings: James Davis (Francine) of Scottsdale, Arizona, Beverly (Allan) Everist of Scottsdale, Arizona, Nancy (Neal) McLemore of Kent, Washington, Ralph (Judy) Davis of Glenwood, Iowa and Jaynane Aiken of Mount Vernon, WA. And a very special companion Merna Appelgate of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, his second wife Janice and a niece Cindie Davis-Holub.
