Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Nayda Nibe, 88 of Story City died October 9, 2013 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be Tuesday October 15, 2013 at 10:30 am at Blairsburg United Church of Christ with visitation one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will be in Liberty Township Cemetery south of Blairsburg. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City.

Nayda was born January 30, 1925 near Story City to Franklin and E. Lenora (Jacobs) Doolittle. She married Helmer J. Nibe on May 18, 1946. He died May 12, 1997. Nayda taught elementary school at South Hamilton for many years.

Nayda graduated from Story City High School in 1942 and then from Iowa Teachers College (UNI) and then from Drake University. She enjoyed making scrapbooks, growing Iris’s and especially her grandchildren. Nayda was a member of the Blairsburg UCC, opera house committee in Blairsburg, the Sheffield Cemetery Assoc and was still very active in the farm operations.

Nayda is survived by her children, Donovan (Rebecca) Nibe of Kamrar, Iowa, Candace (Gary) Nees of Blairsburg and Dallas (Becky) Nibe of Somerton, AZ; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and a brother Dorrell Doolittle of Story City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Helmer J. Nibe and a brother, Duane Doolittle.

Memorials may be made to Blairsburg United Church of Christ or Sheffield Cemetery Assoc.
