Leola Frances Gilmore
Dec. 26, 1896 to Aug. 19, 1998Leola Frances Gilmore, 101, of Avon Park, Fla., died Wednesday, Aug. 19, of complications from a stroke at Royal Care Center in Avon Park, Fla., where she had been a resident for the past year.
She was born Dec. 26, 1896, in Castana to Ira David and Fannie Iowa (French) Porter. She was educated at Madison College. She was a registered nurse and owned and operated sever nursing home facilities in Nevada. She married Cecil Raymond Warner and also married George Gilmore in 1937 at Lincoln, Neb. She moved to Florida in 1964 from Nevada. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Nevada and Lake Wales, Fla., and enjoyed china painting, quilting and loved piano and violin music.
Survivors include a daughter, Harriett Durby of Phillips, Neb.; four grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, in 1946; a grandson, Bill in 1970; three sisters and a brother.
Graveside services were held Sunday, Aug. 23, at Nevada Municipal Cemetery with Pastor Charles Dye officiating. Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, handled arrangements.
