Leon Stevens, 86, died Saturday, graveside services set
Graveside services will be held Friday, Feb. 20 at 1 p.m. in the Nevada Cemetery for Leon E. Stevens, 86, a former Nevada and Ames resident. Rev. Lester Moore of the Collegiate United Methodist Church in Ames is in charge of services.
Stevens died Saturday, Feb. 7 at Yavapal Community Hospital in Prescott, Ariz. where he resided.
Memorial services were held Feb. 11 at the United Methodist Church in Prescott with private cremation following at the Mountains View Crematory.
Stevens was born Sept. 15, 1889 in Nevada. He moved to Ames in 1945 where he was employed by Iowa State University. In 1973, he moved to Prescott. He was active in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Rouze; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, and son, Leon, Jr.
A memorial fund has been established for the United Methodist Church and may be sent to the church at Summit and Gurley, Prescott, Ariz. 80301.
Mildred Rouze and her husband will be staying at the home of Mrs. Harold Rouze, 4014 Alpin Road in Ames for several weeks.
